We’re thrilled to announce that Finding Your Laughter will have its hometown and Midwest premiere at the Chicago International Film Festival! The film has been selected for the prestigious “City & State” program, which spotlights the best in Chicago and Illinois filmmaking, and is also eligible for the Chicago Award, celebrating outstanding local talent. Additionally, the film is honored to be part of Black Perspectives’ 30th Anniversary, Cinema/Chicago’s program championing Black cinema and diaspora voices since 1997. Both screenings will be followed by an audience Q&A.

To kick off CIFF’s Industry Days, on October 15, our Co-Director, Brittany Alsot, will be featured on the panel  From Premiere to Purpose: How Indie Films Make Their Way into the World Now at CineCity Studios. This opening panel will ground the festival gathering in the realities of today’s release landscape, exploring how independent creators can leverage festival exposure, strategic partnerships, and grassroots organizing to maximize a film’s reach and purpose. We can’t wait to share this film with our hometown audience.

Mark your calendars and grab your tickets soon! If you need accommodations for either screening, please email CIFF at access@chicagofilmfestival.com, call at 312.683.0121 x202, or fill out their Accommodation Request Form after you reserve your ticket.
