I am so incredibly proud of Arlieta Hall and her cinematic work on Finding Your Laughter. This is brave filmmaking at its finest!!! Congrats on your incredible debut at Chicago Film Festival this year (2026) and for winning the Chicago Award! Finding Your Laughter left me inspired, more informed, and with more understanding about what's required when taking on the role of caregiver. For that reason, I also have more empathy for those I know have done it! Caregivers truly are superheroes! I look forward to your unfolding journey with Finding Your Laughter and the life it will take on from this point into the future. I believe this film, your workshops teaching caregivers how to use improv as a communication device, and anything else you decide to develop from this experience will be both extremely needed and valuable to everyone. As you said in the film, we will also, at some point, be caring for someone and/or needing someone to care for us! That point was so profound and left me thinking more deeply about my own life and the people I love and how I can care even more right now. Thank you so much for sharing your story and Milton and Charmaine with all of us <3

Arlieta Hall - Brave, courageous, genuine soul. And funny too. Love your spirit. Keep doing what you're doing lil lady. This insight into caregiving is very relatable. Its lets us know we are not alone in the day to day aspect of caring for the people we love. Very challenging, but meaningful and I believe God only picks his strongest to do it. 💪💪💪 Thank you for you Arlieta. 💯

I first saw Finding Your Laughter in an early preview a few years ago, and I’ve been hoping ever since for the chance to see it again. It is one of the most insightful and valuable films I’ve ever seen, and it is also filled with warmth and humor. Arlieta welcomes us into her life and into the complicated, frustrating, sometimes funny and always deeply loving experience of caring for her father. There is no sugarcoating. We experience that journey with her, and out of it comes something remarkable: her insight that the principles of improv can offer a different way to communicate with someone with dementia—something I previously could not have imagined. My father had Alzheimer’s, and I shared Arlieta’s insights with my family. Her understanding of how to adapt the principles of improv to such a difficult and heartbreaking situation eased our communication with my dad. He passed away a year ago, but I can recall many, many moments when I thought about Arlieta, applied something she taught me through this film, and witnessed it make a real difference. I believe this film represents a breakthrough in dementia caregiving. And just as important, Arlieta’s approach offers a way to strengthen connection while preserving the dignity of the person with dementia. I’m so grateful for this beautiful, funny, honest and wise film. I appreciate Arlieta’s generosity in sharing such personal family moments. In doing so, she lets us know we are not alone and that there’s a way forward. Finding Your Laughter deserves a worldwide audience. It’s a joy to spend time with Arlieta, her dad and her family. And you don’t need to be a caregiver or have someone in your family with dementia to be moved by this film. There’s wisdom here for anyone who has ever... Read more

Please go see it. You’ll be so happy you did. Very few films have actually changed my life for the better. Finding Your Laughter absolutely did.... Collapse
Arlieta - you are an amazing woman! I too was a caregiver and could relate to so much of your story. You opened yourself and showed not only your strength but your vulnerability. Everyone should see your documentary. I have shared your story with so many advocacy groups, caregivers and individuals. I am hopeful that your documentary will be distributed broadly as it will help so many just like us. THANK YOU!!!!

Arlieta! It was so nice meeting you and Brittany the other day. I wish we could’ve had more time to chat after the Director's Lunch at Blackstar. I just watched your film virtually, and it really touched me. I appreciated how the film showed all aspects of your experience as a caregiver and also a comedian. The way that you and Charmaine showed up for your father made me reflect on my relationship with my parents. I’m living with them at the moment, and things can get frustrating as we all learn to get older together. I just think this film is so important, and I’m also inspired to give improv a try!

Arlieta, thank you again for leading such an incredible workshop. My sisters and I are still talking about how disarming, honest, and energizing the experience was. It felt like both a mirror and a telescope, helping us better understand where we are while also showing us new ways forward. We walked away with a deeper understanding of one another and more thoughtful ways to support our dad. It was truly so, so good and came at exactly the right time for our family. We’re incredibly grateful for the care, wisdom, and intention you brought into the space. Thank you! ❤️

I just finished watching Finding Your Laughter at the Blackstar Film Festival. It was fantastic. I loved every second of it and was sad when it ended, as you all started to feel like family. While my father, at 87, doesn't have Alzheimer's, I find myself a main caregiver. I had been unconsciously using "Yes, And" and your movie encapsulated so perfectly why, although you do it WAY better than I! You and Charmaine, and your father, rock. Thank you for putting such a poignant, helpful, and yes, funny, film out into the world.

Thank you again! I'm like, "Where do I send the funds? How can I invest?" This will be so impactful for many families. The session demystified it all. How it was put together was very disarming, real, energizing, and like a mirror and a telescope. Using a lens to face reality and a lens to be hopeful for the future. Uhhhh sooooo good. THANK YOU ARLIETA!
