We’re thrilled to announce the World Premiere of Finding Your Laughter at the BlackStar Film Festival on August 8, 2026 in Philadelphia.
Finding Your Laughter is a deeply personal documentary following comedian Arlieta Hall, who leaves her full-time job to care for her father, Milton, after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Along the way, she discovers how improvisation and comedy can become powerful tools for affirmation, connection, and healing.
Inspired by Milton’s own artistic career, Arlieta learns to find moments of joy in the midst of caregiving while navigating the emotional realities of dementia alongside her “bonus mom,” Charmaine. Together, they remind us that even during life’s hardest seasons, laughter can create space for love, resilience, and hope.
We are also honored that the film received a Best Feature Documentary nomination at BlackStar.
